Getting Started

AKO’ is currently only available in cities in the U.S Information of possible expansions to new countries or cities will be announced. it’s our mission to connect clients to freelancers in most cities and countries around the world and build a global community of fashion and lifestyle freelancers and clients.
You can access AKO’ from our homepage on your web browser or download the AKO’ app for iOS and Android.

iOS Requirements: iOS 11 and later. Compatible with iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch. Android Requirements: Android 4.0 and later.

Note: We carry out updates simultaneously or singularly on these platforms, at such your experience using each may differ at one time or another.
To sign up as a client:

Click on the “Sign Up” button on the homepage of the AKO’ website or sign up using the mobile app.
No. AKO’ is only available in the U.S. Possible expansions into your city or country will be announced in the future.
NO. You do not need your credit card to book a freelancer. Payment for services rendered (or to be provided) is negotiated between you and freelancer.

My Account

You can make changes to your user profile at any time on web, iOS, and Android. However, some changes can only be made on the web platform at this time. If you have any questions about how to make changes, contact our AKO’ Support team, and they'd be happy to assist. A profile picture gives freelancers a visual description of your personality and influences their decision to accept your booking/service request. When your profile is detailed and contains images, it helps freelancers know that you're authentic and reliable. Whether as a freelancer or Client. The more detailed your profile is, the more service requests you receive or is accepted by freelancers, respectively. It is required on AKO’ that you upload a profile photo of yourself. No buildings, animals, objects, landscapes, or anything else that is not an image of yourself.

WEB: On the login screen of the web Click on Forgot Password Enter the email address you use for AKO.’ You'll receive an e-mail with a link to reset your password iOS and Android: Click on Forgot Password Type in new password. You will receive an OTP for verification of mobile number
You can deactivate your AKO’ profile/account and come back at a later time if you'd like. When you disable your account, your profile won't be visible to others. Some information, such as messages you sent before deactivating, may still be visible to others. WEB: Login to your AKO’ account and click Settings from the side options: Scroll down the bottom of the page. Click 'Deactivate Account' Click 'Confirm to confirm iOS & Android: Unfortunately, there is currently no way to do this on the Mobile app(s) until future updates are made. Reactivate your account To reactivate your account just login to our website or the mobile app with your login credentials and your account will be restored.

Bookings, Appointments, and Cancellations

Appointments are automatically booked as soon as freelancer accepts your service request. How do I cancel an Online Booking Request I have sent to a Freelancer?

Payments, Reviews, and more

To review a freelancer, click on the “star” review icon on your appointment screen. Give freelancer a rating and a review
There are no payments made on AKO’. Payments and/or payments medium/method to freelancers for services rendered (or to be provided) are negotiated between freelancers and clients.

Privacy, Locational mapping and more

No, only location or address on your profile is visible on AKO. Client’s service address is visible to AKO’ freelancers ONLY upon appointment confirmation.
Location of service is chosen by a client using 3 options: 1.Client’s Address: Clients current address as mapped by GPS. 2.Freelancer’s Address: Address on Freelancer’s Location. 3.Typed Address: Client types in specific location or address to meet freelancer for service to be
To change your location: Go to the “Settings” page: Type in your new location in the text field for location.
Although, you have a right to have your data deleted from our services. General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) does not apply to AKO’ users as AKO’ is currently only available to U.S users. Users from the U.S, should contact our Support Team and request their account be deleted.
Freelancers can only see your name and location before a booked appointment. Upon Confirming an Appointment, Freelancers can see your name, address, and your contact information.

Notifications

Clients can always set their alerts for activities (Requests, Cancellations, Reviews, Messages, etc.) with their AKO’ profile. To set your notifications: WEB: Click on the “Settings” tab on the side options of your profile: Scroll down to the notifications section Select your preferred notification method iOS and Android: Note: This feature only applies to the web platform but is being modified on mobile.

Fraud & Protection

Clients should only give freelancers personal contact information when a relationship or an agreement has been established with a freelancer. Clients are advised to be vigilant when dealing with Freelancers. NEVER give out personal, social security or account information that can be used as a means of identity theft or credit/bank fraud.
Freelancers are advised to be vigilant when dealing with every client. NEVER give out personal, social security or account information that can be used as a means of identity theft or credit/bank fraud.
It is advisable to meet a client in public or virtually before any further meetings, as desired by both parties.
Although AKO’ does not take responsibility for payments. We advise that clients only make payments when a job is half or wholly complete or following the set terms earlier agreed by client and freelancer.

Getting Started

AKO’ is an online Fashion and Lifestyle marketplace for clients to connect to fashion and lifestyle freelancers offering Fashion and Lifestyle services.
To set up an AKO’ freelancer profile, click on “Register as a Freelancer” button on the AKO’ website homepage

Or

Download the app and “Sign up” as a freelancer.

Start your registration and your profile by filling required information about yourself or company and submitting required documents.
AKO is a free to use platform. It is free to create your profile, create your service profile and price-list, upload photos, message potential clients and perform other functions.
To register as a freelancer; follow the steps mentioned HERE or HERE.
Prospective and current clients can find you on AKO’ by searching for your profile using your:
Name; Your Search Tags and Service(s) Offered.

Note: The search tags feature being modified on the mobile.

You can also share your profile link to prospective or current clients by using the “Share Profile” Link on your profile dashboard. This allows client direct access to your profile.

Account

You can link old and current clients (or let clients aware of) to your AKO’ profile by sharing the link to your profile to clients; On web: Go to Dashboard, Scroll down to the bottom of your page Click on “Share Profile” and share your profile using your desired medium(Email, Messages, Twitter, Instagram, Facebook, etc.) or Copy link and paste on your social media profiles iOS & Android: Click on the “Settings’ option on the side tab of your profile Scroll down the settings page Click on “Share Profile” button to share or copy profile link to share your profile link.

Portfolio and Badges

There are currently only 2(two) badges types on AKO’: Experience Level & Skill Level Experience Level: Does not require submission and verification of documents To get an “Experience Level” badge: Select from the experience level options (BEGINNER, INTERMEDIATE, EXPERT) available in the “Settings” page of your profile. Skill type: ONLY requires submission and verification of documents when “Professional” badge is selected. Professional badge: You can get a professional badge by selecting the professional option in the Badge section of the “Setting” screen and submitting supporting documents. Upon reviewing the documents, and AKO’ specialist will grant or deny the badge. To do this: Select “Professional” on the Skill Type option and submit required documents, licenses or certificate, showing professional attainment of skill. Within 24 hours, an AKO’ specialist will review and grant or deny badge upon reviewing submitted documents. iOS & Android: This feature is being modified on mobile.
Manage your portfolio by updating your portfolio each season (if your service applies) and by only uploading professional pictures of your job. For risk of plagiarism and content theft, upload photos of work you are comfortable with being publicly viewed.
Professional photos of your job (recent and/or past) give clients a good visual of your services and capabilities.
To add photos Click on the Add icon “+” on the top right of your portfolio section Or Add photos on the settings page of your profile. iOS & Android: To do this on mobile: Click on settings screen to add photos to your portfolio. To delete Photos: Hover on the image to be removed and click on the delete “X” icon on the top right of the photo.

Service(s) Categories & Price-list

Freelancers may create their pricelist by combining as many services as they offer on the service category and curating their singular pricelist for each service category.
To add your service Category: Click on Pricelist on the side tab options Select your service categories Click on “Done” to proceed to price-list. To Edit your service category: Click on Edit/Add Service category on the bottom screen of your price list. Select or unselect your service categories Click on “Done” to proceed to your price list.
Freelancers can offer as many services as they are capable of on AKO’. There are currently nine service categories. If you have a service category you would like us to add, please let us know at info@akoapp.com
Freelancers price-list should be detailed regarding Type of Service, Price, Duration of Service, Description of Service.
Create your pricelist by: 1.Clicking on Pricelist on your side options tab 2.Choosing your service category 3. Fill in details for each service you offer under your service category: Type in service name Type in a duration of service or choose from the drop-down options Type in a description of service

Payments

There are no payments made on AKO’. Payments and/or payments medium/method to freelancers for services rendered (or to be rendered) are negotiated between freelancers and clients. Freelancers and clients are advised to are negotiate a convenient and sufficient medium/method for both parties.
Freelancers are advised to negotiate a suitable payment option with their client by using milestones or official agreement. While AKO’ takes no responsibility for the payment or payment terms, report clients to us at support@akoapp.com, and we will contact the client on behalf of the freelancer. Here are tips to avoid scenarios like this: -Negotiate a deposit to be paid by a client before any services rendered -A simple client and freelancer agreement can be drafted and signed by either party -Ensure that you meet your freelancer (virtually or in person) before rendering any service.
By taking payment off the AKO’ platform, we aim to give clients and freelancers the freedom of choice, trust, and negotiation, in aggreging on the suitable methods or mediums of payments for both parties.

Search

Only complete profile with all required details and information get listed on the search directory.
AKO’ does not have an algorithm for this. All freelancers equally appear on the search results; which is reflective of client searches, filters and preferences.
To improve your ranking; ensure that you AKO’ profile is complete with as many details as needed to fit a client’s search. Check out our tips to getting more client’s discovery HERE.

Service Requests, Notifications & Reviews

To view new service requests from clients: Click on the “Requests” on the left side tab options.
Decline a booking request: Decline a service request by clicking the “Decline’’ button on your service requests. A notification will be sent to the client of the declined request.

Reviews

Clients leave reviews after each service has been completed by a freelancer. To indicate completion of service: Freelancers are required to report the end of service by clicking “Completed” after service has been successfully completed.
No. All Clients review is final and cannot be deleted. Freelancers are to ensure that they offer quality and professional services to enable good reviews from clients. Note: Features are being worked on to enable response to reviews and for freelancers to review clients.

Location selection, geographical mapping

Location of service is chosen by client(s) using 3 options: 1.Client’s Address: Clients current address as mapped by GPS. 2.Freelancer’s Address: Address on Freelancer’s Location. 3.Typed Address: Client types in specific location or address to meet freelancer for service to be rendered.
Changing your location enables clients within your new geographical area aware your services are available in the current location. For freelancers that travel often, you may need to change your location manually or allow for the location settings to update itself in each new location. To change your location: Go to the “Settings” page: Type in your new location in the text field for location.
Freelancers should meet their client in the client chosen location or at the negotiated location by both parties.

Calendar Settings & Availability

Web: Freelancers can set availability by selecting their availability for current or future months. To set monthly availability: Click ‘Availability” side menu tab Select and/or drag on dates you will be available for that month. Previous availability selection/ setting rolls over to the next month if not edited for that specific month. iOS and Android: Note: This feature is being modified on the mobile.
Business hours are set on a weekly but are subject to changes based on freelancer’s schedule. To set business hours: Web: On the availability screen Select from the time dropdown your hours Or “Mark as Unavailable” if unavailable for that day of the week. iOS and Android: This feature is being modified on mobile
Unselect the dates in which you will be unavailable or “Mark as Unavailable” the days of the week you choose to be unavailable.
Block off Multiple days by unselecting previously selected dates Or Using the “Mark as Unavailable” function for all days of the week.

Privacy, Plagiarism & Impersonation

Only the address or location filled on your profile is visible on your AKO’ profile. Freelancers may fill in an Area, City, Proximal Address or a professional business address.
Although, you have a right to have your data deleted from our services. General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) does not apply to AKO’ users as AKO’ is currently only available to U.S users. Users from the U.S, should contact our Support Team and request their account be deleted.
As on your profile, clients can see your description, portfolio, pricelist, business hours, tags and reviews. Clients can see the following personal information: -Name -Location -Phone Number
Freelancers suspecting or suspected by another Freelancer for plagiarism of work (either by portfolio pictures, brand name, etc.) will be permanently deactivated on AKO’. If you suspect or notice that your work has been plagiarized, contact us at help@akoapp.com and subject email as “Plagiarism” detailing: Freelancer(s) name, Type of job, Images, and other supporting documents. An AKO’ specialist will review your complaint and get back to you.
If you suspect or notice that your identity or business identity is being impersonated. While it is in our responsibility to suspend such profiles, we advise that you report this to the right authorities. Contact us at help@akoapp.com and subject email as “Impersonation” detailing: Freelancer(s) name and other supporting evidence/ documents.
